Seven UBC professors have been inducted into the Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) – the highest honour a scholar can achieve in the arts, humanities and sciences in Canada.

The new Fellows from UBC are:

Timothy Brook, Department of History

The UBC contingent are among 84 Canadians who will be officially sworn in at a ceremony in Banff in November.

Also, Mark MacLachlan, a professor of chemistry, has been honoured with the Rutherford Memorial Medal in Chemistry from the RSC. Established in 1980, the Rutherford Memorial Medals are awarded for outstanding research in any branch of physics and chemistry. The medals recognize Lord Rutherford’s own research carried out in Canada. Each gold plated silver medal is offered every year if there is a suitable candidate.
